Bobby Roy was founded on the premise that legacy is the bedrock of human impact. What we do today, has a significant bearing on what future generations experience, whether good or bad. It is paramount to consciously choose to build a legacy that serves as a good foundation for future generations. One that not only benefits them but serves as a springboard to even greater impact for mankind. In our context, the biggest issues are poverty, a result of unemployment and lack of opportunity. Some may even debate a misalignment of opportunity. Our responsibility, as social change agents, is to stand in the gap and facilitate necessary conversations that will bring those in the peripheries of opportunity to be active participants in market activities. This is done through giving preference to local labour and qualifying SMEs.
In the past few years, we have observed an increasing willingness by corporates to have these conversations thus increasing the potential for impact through economic inclusion. Communities have an equal responsibility to come to task through proper organization and upskilling so as to match what the market demands. So very often we see the unfortunate eventuality of missed opportunity due to a lack of preparation and poor organization. We find it a difficult task to legitimize ‘mushroom’ structures as there is no way to verify details around eligibility.
Our recommendation has always been cohesion amongst the community, and precise goal setting that speaks to the growth and development within the community. Good leadership and unity being at the helm of achieving this great task.
Bobby Roy has witnessed some great successes and challenges of equal weight in pursuing efforts of social economic inclusion through Stakeholder Engagement Facilitation. We applaud our clients for building a bridge of communication and opportunity with the various communities. We hope that as projects end and some begin, we will see even greater impact.
